CENTER OF THINGS

In May, I shared that the Center Board, and staff, along with several current members would be working on rebranding our organization.  Our goal was to create a brand that shows our Center as a place where we meet the interests of today’s senior, but an organization that also looks to the interests of future generations.  We want to be viewed as a community organization where friends gather to enjoy social experiences designed for and by the group.  A place where friends are made, people maintain active lives and have fun. We will soon announce our new identity –  be on the lookout.

Thanks to the Kris-Tech Cares group our building has gotten a beautiful face-lift.  The outside patio area is beautifully painted, flowers planted and 3 new lovely outdoor table sets are arranged on the patio for our enjoyment.  Come to the Center to visit, play the Dorf 50-50, and sit in the gorgeous patio area for lunch with friends- I love to sit out there for my lunch.  The Dorf 50-50 continues through June and July as we continue to raise money for new kitchen equipment.

Fridays in July, Melinda will be teaching how to maximize the use of your Smart Devices (phones and tablets) – be the first to sign up.   Men’s Breakfast Buddies will continue with a speaker form the Wild Blue Yonder Raccoon Rehab. & Release Center- doesn’t that sound interesting.  Wednesday concerts in July are the 11th and 25th, come join us for fried dough and “Fulton Chain Gang” on the 11th and new this year we will feature “Vinyl 45” on the 25th.  Don’t miss the music and fun.

“Monuts” on Monday July 16th.  Donna is baking a cross between a donut and muffin for your delight. If you are new to the Center, this is a great way to meet others or do you have a friend that you would like to join the Center, this is a great way for them to be introduced to other members and to get feel of the Center.

Want to learn more about transportation services in Oneida County – come to the presentation on Way2Go of Herkimer & Oneida County.  Now that you have your transportation needs met, how about a trip to Alexandria Bay, joining Mary Ann on Uncle Sam’s Boat Tours, along with a tour of Boldt Castle- sounds like a blast.  The details are inside our newsletter. How about a discount on your car insurance – the Center will once again host an AARP Safe Driving class in July. Call today- this class limits the number of participants.

Like our Spaghetti Dinners? Join us on July 27th for dinner, cash bar, and DJ – Frank Belmont will help us dance the evening away.  Eat in for $15.00 per person or take out will be available for $10.00 per person.  You don’t want to miss Judy’s meatballs – so yummy!

See you at the Center!   Susan
